“Why Do Autistic People Do That?”

Graphic of a person with red hair and a blue shirt putting their hand to their face in a confused gesture while a question mark pops up over their head.

“Why do autistic people do that?”

Whether you’re the parent of an autistic child, the partner of an autistic adult, or you employ autistic people, you may find yourself wondering at times, “Why do they do that?!”

Autistic and non-autistic brains work very differently, which can often cause communication breakdowns, hurt feelings, and tremendous frustration on both sides. If you have an autistic person in your life, and you’re unsure about their intentions and motivations, ask me, and I’ll answer based on my personal experience. Even though I can’t answer for the person, my perspective may give you some insight into the miscommunication through a neurodivergent lens.

About Me:

I’m a late-diagnosed autistic/ADHD human with 40+ years of experience being neurodivergent in a neurotypical (non-autistic) world, and I’d be happy to help you experience more effective communication with the autistic person in your life!
